“In response to a request for comments from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding new rules regulating over-the-counter hearing aids, NAAG submitted comments encouraging the FDA to take the below steps to ensure that states maintain a role as regulators in this emerging market.”

Attorney General Jeff Landry Warns Louisiana Patients to Avoid Hearing Aid Scams.
"Technological innovations can be a great thing for consumers, especially when it comes to improving their quality of life while lowering their costs,” said Attorney General Landry. “However, Louisiana patients in the marketplace should be mindful that some sellers pushing ‘innovations’ may not have the best of intentions.”

This measure amends and deletes provisions relative to hearing aid dealers.
Specifically, this measure requires that any person engaging in the practice of selling and fitting any type of hearing aid must be registered and licensed by the Louisiana Board for Hearing Aid Dealers.
This measure takes effect on August 1, 2022.
